Your Commitments & Routines

Your Commitments & Routines

uRoutine is made up of commitments - like habits and goals - that, in turn, form routines. Here's how it works.

uRoutine is powered by commitments and routines. Every user has a default routine when they register - if you use AI to generate your routine then we'll automatically generate a relevant routine name. Otherwise, if you build your own routine, your routine's default name will be your first name (Eg. John's Routine).

Creating Commitments

You can create a new commitment at any time. Commitments can either be one-off or recurring. Commitments are always assigned to a routine and if you only have one routine, it'll be your default routine that your commitments will go into.

  • One-off commitments have a set date and time that you're committing to completing them by (however, you can change this date and time). Examples of one-off commitments could include the likes of 'writing a novel', 'launching a business' or 'running a marathon'. Typically these aren't things you are looking to repeat regularly. If you are looking to repeat these commitments, then recurring commitments are better.
  • Recurring commitments are things like habits or repetitive tasks you would like to factor into your daily, weekly or monthly routine. We offer a number of recurring options, such as on weekdays or at weekends, and will be offering even more flexibility here soon. These can be small daily or weekly actions that you can take and which make a big difference over time. Examples of these could include waking up at a certain time in the morning, eating more healthily, managing your email inbox or daily planning.

Creating Routines

You can create a new routine at any time. There is no limit to routines and each routine can have an unlimited number of commitments. You may have routines for different situations or topics, such as a morning routine, a fitness routine and a working routine.

To create a new routine, click the plus icon, which will open both the ability to add a new commitment and also create a new routine. On the desktop web app you will also see a 'create new routine' button to the left of your home feed.

Your home upcoming feed will show any upcoming commitments across any or all of your routines. So, you can see everything due, whether you have one routine or several. As well as your own routines, you can copy someone else's routine. Copying a routine will copy all commitments within it and create a copy of the routine for you too.
